Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la fin du XVIII\u00e8me si\u00e8cle, il \u00e9tait d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 la production d\u2019huile d\u2019olive, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce qu\u2019un hiver tr\u00e8s dur d\u00e9cime les oliviers et le r\u00e9oriente vers la culture du m\u00fbrier et l\u2019industrie de la soie. Aujourd\u2019hui, c\u2019est une destination touristique encore peu connue mais tr\u00e8s populaire chez les artistes.
